HOW IT IS DONE
The first step in creating a successful hair replacement is to perform a careful analysis of both the balding area and the client's remaining hair. We then suggest suitable proportions of thickness and length to compliment the person and maintain believability. The next step is a select a wave pattern consistent with age and any existing wave. Color matching is also done in this initial phase to best fit the existing hair color and skin tone. The client is also asked to provide details of skin type (dry, normal or oily) and daily routine and lifestyle. For instance, does the client perspire a lot due to physical activity or exposure to the outside Florida temperatures. These issues influence the types of materials to be used so that maximum compatibility with the client's skin and lifestyle/routine is achieved.
AVAILABLE TYPES OF REPLACEMENT
Numerous types of hair systems are available. Some provide increased durability and tend to be thicker while others give the open invisible look so that the scalp can be seen through the hair system. The latter systems tend to be more fragile and may not be as suitable for certain physical activities. The final choice results from a number of factors including skin type, physical activities, environmental considerations (exposure to sun, swimming pool chemicals, salt water, etc,) the look desired by the client, durability and a combination of these and other factors that may be important to the client.
Hair Professionals recommends human hair almost 100% of the time although there may be an occasion when the client would like synthetic hair and this can be supplied on request. There is also the question of a stock system or a custom system. A stock system is usually available within two weeks and a wide variety of sizes, hair colors and base materials are available. Stock systems satisfy the needs of at least 85% of the clients that visit Hair Professionals. Even when a hair addition is desired only in the the crown area, front hairline or some other smaller area as a result of an injury, a stock system can be crafted to fulfill the need and achieve an undetectable result.
Custom systems are necessary as a result of either Unavailable size or shape or unusual hair color or pattern of hair color. The customer may also request a custom system The delivery time for custom systems is approximately 8 weeks and custom systems also are more expensive. The final decision of stock vs custom belongs to the client. The types of systems and base materials is constantly expanding. The staff of Hair Professionals is dedicated to keep abreast of the latest innovations so that our clients have the very best selection and technology.
ATTACHMENT METHODS
The most undetectable systems are "full load adherent" meaning that any where that there is hair loss, the hair system is adhered directly to the scalp. Pull one individual hair and feel your scalp being pulled at that location.
There are also numerous forms of "perimeter adherent" attachments that involve securing the hair replacement system around the outer edge of the balding area. Many variations exist on a common theme - attach the system to existing hair at the system perimeter. The oldest methods are called weaving and fusion points in which the replacement system is tied to existing hair. A complete list of methods is too numerous to list. The staff of Hair Professionals is well trained in all forms and will select the method that is best suited to the client's lifestyle, skin type and condition of the existing hair at the attachment points.
SERVICE SCHEDULES
Similar to going for a haircut, it is necessary to return on a routine basis for a "Service Visit". During the Service Visit the hair replacement system will be removed, cleaned, color added if necessary and checked for overall condition. The client, while the unit is off of his/her scalp, will have their hair and scalp shampooed and receive a haircut. The hair replacement system is then reattached and styled to blend in seamlessly with the clients own hair.
